The JK is an advancement over the TJ. It feels more stable on the road, and is quieter. I would much rather have an engine with a little more torque down low, I think that is the biggest enemy of the JK at the moment. Jeep had to meet the 2007 requirements, and they did it and still kept the JK what a Jeep should be. I am going to give the engineers a lot of credit for looking at things with the aftermarket in mind. Ugly bumpers, yep, lets go cheap is one example. Besides not many of us still wheel our TJ’s with every single stock part on them because we love everything. The shovel comes to mind, or maybe those q-tip ugly bumpers. I think the JK has a little too much plastic in the engine compartment. Because there are a few things, I would like and plastic does not lend itself to modification. In other areas, not a big deal at all. I do wish that they had kept the tire bolt pattern either 4.5 or gone to 5.5. This makes it a little hard to borrow a rim in an emergency off road with a 5” bolt pattern. In the end I feel that the JK will take a little getting used to, but will be worthy of the Jeep name.

Common Sense and Safety should always be observed when working on your vehicle or doing modifications. Jackstands, wheel blocks, disconnecting the battery are a few of the basic safety precautions that should be used and may not be mentioned in the write ups on this site. You are responsible for your own installation, these write ups are a helpful guideline and should not be taken as an official installation instruction. My write up may be different from the kits currently out there, so alwasy double check the manufacturers installation instructions when installing anything. I try to keep the site up to date with changes that have occured as I discover them, but may not have the latest unless someone lets me know. If you feel that an install is above your capabilities after reading my write ups, I recommend getting together with a club and getting some help. Only a few times have I needed to employe some actual help from a shop to get something done. Usually welding or A/C work. While I have spent many years working on mechanical systems, I am not an expert, nor do I pretend to be one. I hope these write ups have been useful to you.
