Off-Roading the JK

Not much has changed in the JK's offroad capabilities over the predicessors. The new engine gives it some more power in the sand, but otherwise the only nice new feature is the Hill Decent control for the automatic's. Don't know the details about what the computer software is doing specifically to the vehicle, but it makes it feel like your using the engine braking on the Manuals when your in 1st gear to slow it's speed down on the hills. I would believe that all it's really doing is modulating the brakes to keep the speed down. If I figure out more on this I'll add it here. First time off road, (little dirt construction path with a mound of dirt off to the side), I managed to hang it up on a limb that was buried in the dirt. Interesting that the limb caught the skid plate for the evap canister. I could now just imagine what would have happened without the skid, or trying to explain to the wife how I managed to rip an evap canister off the Jeep at only 100miles on the odometer.

Common Sense and Safety should always be observed when working on your vehicle or doing modifications.
